OKLAHOMA STATE ARMY ROTC
WHAT IS ARMY ROTC?
Army ROTC is an elective course you can take while enrolled full time at Oklahoma State. Students enrolled in the course occur NO military obligation during your freshman and sophomore years. Those wanting to pursue a career in the Army after the completion of their bachelor's degree may contract and look into scholarship opportunities with the Army ROTC. After successful completion of the 4-year program, students will graduate with their degree and earn their commission as a 2nd Lieutenant either full time in the Active Duty Army, or part time in the Army National Guard or Army Reserves.
HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
High School students can begin applying for 3 and 4 year National Army ROTC Scholarships the summer prior to their Senior year. National High School Scholarships pay for 100% of tuition and fees or up to $5,000 for room and board every semester, $420 monthly stipend while in school, and $600 book stipend each semester. For more information, see attached flyer or visit goarmy.com/rotc.
NATIONAL GUARD/ARMY RESERVES
Already in the Guard/Reserves or wanting to be while in school? We have multiple cadets in our program every year that go to school full time and drill with their units one weekend a month. On top of the experience and leadership you build as a member of both the Guard/Reserves and ROTC, there are also financial incentives involved. Scholarship SMP(Simultaneous Membership Program) Cadets receive 100% of tuition and fees paid or up to $5,000 for room and board every semester, $420 monthly stipend while in school, and $600 book stipend each semester, as well as an increase to E-5 drill pay. Guardsmen and Reservists can use the education benefits they gained from their components (G.I. Bill; G.I. Bill Kicker; Tuition and Fees Waiver; Tuition Assistance) along with their ROTC benefits.
WHAT KIND OF TIME COMMITMENT WILL ROTC HAVE ON ME IN SCHOOL?
Being a student in Army ROTC takes up no more time than any other 3 credit hour course you will take at OSU. As a Cadet in the program, you will have a 50-minute class twice a week, a 2-hour lab on Wednesday afternoons, and Physical Training 3 days a week in the mornings. We have many Cadets in the program that are in numerous clubs and organizations, intramurals, fraternities and sororities, are student-athletes, and have part-time jobs.

Students in grades 7-12 should be bringing home a letter and form today for your review. We highly encourage participation by all students to make S-M mindfully healthier and lead them on through life with healthy skills. The forms need to be signed and returned to Mrs. Hopper by Friday, December 16. If the letter and form don't make it home, you may print, sign & return them with students or by email to thopper@smps.k12.ok.us. If the deadline is missed, they may return them at any point after break to participate, but parent/guardian signature is required for participation. The letter and form may be found at smps.k12.ok.us under Documents>About>Counselor as counsform and counsltr.
We could use adult help in the concession stand Thursday and Friday. Any help would be greatly appreciated. There are 4 games each day beginning at 4:00 on Thursday and 4:30 on Friday. Thanks in advance
